Music

The Music at St. Michael’s.

The music at St. Michael’s is fundamental in supporting the liturgy and our worship. Our main act of worship on Sundays is the Parish Mass for all ages, and incorporates much modern liturgical music, as well as the more traditional style. Keyboards and instruments alternate with the pipe organ, and even unaccompanied singing!

The liturgy at St. Michael’s is something everyone can take part in, and the music encourages this.

The details of the organ in St. Michaels can be found on the organ page.

The music group have been invited around the country to assist and provide the music for many church events.– from Worksop to Worthing!  We have provided the music for the Egmanton Youth Pilgrimage in Nottinghamshire, and for the Sheepdip Pilgrimages to Lindisfarne in Easter week; as well as regularly playing for the FiF/ SOM annual pilgrimage to Ladyewell, near Preston – an open air event (weather permitting!).

We have also played at York Minster and Liverpool Cathedral, as well as providing the music for the Bishop of Beverleys Chrism Mass at Manchester Cathedral since 2000.

We are always looking for new people to join us, whether as singers or instrumentalists. If you play an instrument – guitar, flute, violin, etc. and would like to join us, then please get in touch with us – either after a service, or via this website.
